NatureScene: Okefenokee Swamp
Deep in southeastern Georgia, tucked away and not easily accessible, lies this large swamp. Islands in the swamp are formed by layers of peat that become the foundation for grasses, shrubs and trees. When stepped on, these islands shift and move, which is why the Indians dubbed the swamp "trembling earth" or "Okefenokee." The swamp is shrouded by strange and unusual stories that have become part of history in this region. Join Rudy and Jim as they experience this mysterious place that is home to a variety of animals typical of southeastern wetlands.
